Rick Beerhorst is the Patriarch of the Beerhorst Family. Both he and his artist wife Brenda Beerhorst have been full time working artists for many years. Last year they created Plan B, a "Post Peak Everything" eco village on the bank of the Grand River that posed the question, "what will our future look like when we run to the end of cheep fossil fuel" ? Plan B won the Best Use of Urban Space Award from new urbanist expert Jeff Speck. Beerhorst is a narrative figure painter and a recipient of a NEA artist grant and 2 Pollock/Krasner awards. His art is featured in prominent collections around the world. He is also fronts the indie rock band The Wealthy Orphans and has recorded 2 full length albums on the Soft Butter Records label. The Beerhorst family has been the recent subject of an Etsy.com artist profile film.
