Here, we’ll save you the 4 minutes on the Halloween Wikipedia page that it would take you to get to the more interesting pages about the background of Halloween:

Calor de Noviembre by Miriam Martinez

Miriam Martinez, Calor De Noviembre

Remember this piece that Miriam Martinez put up a few weeks back?? She wrote us an email about Dia de los Muertes:

…A lot of my work, actually most of my work is inspired by it. It is celebrated on November the 1st and 2nd. Every year I try to come up with a different “Catrina” painting that celebrates this festivity.

Catrinas are a common character/symbol in Dia de los Muertos, she’s the goddess of the festival, the “Lady of the Dead.” This year’s Catrina by Miriam is HUGE, I mean look at it!

Her work has a lot in common – especially skeletonwise – with that of Mike Egan. See for yourself:

Right.

Have a good time tonight, everyone. Be safe, be funny, don’t scare little kids.
