To Review: Brian McCarty and Jasper Rietman
September 25th, 2012 | By: BenBrian McCarty, Free Range Furilla
As if you haven’t heard enough from us of late about the two newest TTP artists, Brian McCarty and Jasper Rietman, here’s one more. We’re piling it on because of the great response we’ve gotten, and because we think they’re interesting when taken side-by-side.
Because on the one hand, you have Brian McCarty, a photographer embedded within the art toy movement since its inception. His 2010 book ART TOYS is really snapshot of the beginning and maybe apex of the art toy movement. But more, it’s his wit and perspective and the sheer imagination of the photographs themselves that makes his work so unforgettable and so recognizable around the world.

And then on the other hand, you have Jasper Rietman, a young Dutch illustrator who shares with Brian McCarty the fresh perspective that TTP’s always looking for, but who isn’t yet perhaps as established as Brian. Yet Jasper’s work shows that he’s well on his way. The storytelling and humor in his illustrations and comics have garnered quite a response and everyone who sees them sort of double takes and smiles.
You can see Brian’s TTP collection here and Jasper’s here. Prints start at $19.99.
