Luis Melo Pt II – Away from the Smog

July 3rd, 2012 | By: Ben

The Blues Singer Leaves Town by Luis Melo

Luis Melo, The Blues Singer Leaves Town

The thing about Luis Melo‘s work as a whole is that whereas on the one hand, like the pieces I put up yesterday, you get these almost post-apocolyptic, steamy, dark cities, on the other hand you see some pieces full of calm, joy, folksy chilling out, and even – wait for it – some sun.

In The Blues Singer Leaves Town (above) or 2 Cats in the Shade (below) you have two pieces as far away as possible from the smoggy cityscapes you saw yesterday, with their looming buildings and their shady alleys. These pieces here just ooze contentment. The subjects are thrilled to be away from the city, breathing fresh air, and the sheer amount of GREEN in them says the rest.

Now I want to go picnic.
