New Art SMASH: Chris Lyles and Bryan Holland

Itsy Bitsy Spider Grew Up by Chris Lyles

Chris Lyles, The Itsy Bitsy Spider Grew Up

Busy week busy week! And more new stuff. American illustrator Chris Lyles added this sort of hilarious concept of what the Itsy Bitsy Spider might be when s/he grew up. I always pictured a cigar smoking financial advisor, but Chris brings in some of the symbols from the song, you know, the water, etc. I love that the spider’s holding a raindrop. After all, s/he did “crawl up the spout again.” Itsy Bitsy Spider: Champion of his/her own destiny.

And another American artist, Bryan Holland, added this icy piece. A lot of Bryan’s pieces feature a stylistic typography, and even though this piece doesn’t have any typography, it shares Bryan’s master of texture. I love the dripping on the bear’s midsection, and the blue almost arabesque setting the background.

See the rest of Chris’s TTP collection here, and Bryan’s TTP store is here.
