Goodnight Sweet Prince . . .

I'll sure miss you

A good and loyal companion left me today. I bought my 13-inch Titanium Powerbook on January 21st, 2003 the same day Apple released them to the public. In the 3 plus years I owned this little guy I had zero, that’s z-e-r-o, problems with it. Together we built Thumbtack Press.

There were warning signs of its departure of course; the battery was getting hotter than ever, and the monitor no longer ‘clicked’ neatly into place. It probably didn’t help that I dropped it from a standing position directly onto concrete. . . Twice (see the thrashed ports above) but even then it kept working for me day in and day out like a trooper.

Today when I began to type and the screen coughed back jibberish I wasn’t angry. I knew its time had come, however, I’m always a little sad to part ways with companions when I know it’s a final goodbye.

Sleep well my friend. You deserve the rest.
