Stolen Art Alert

Updated: Alex Noriega just informed me that the original I purchased came back to him as “unclaimed” and he’s resending to me. My first thought was, of course, “hooray!!!” My immediate second thought was “shame on me” for mentally prosecuting every mail handler in the Western hemisphere. I also erroneously assumed our landscapers as possible culprits, I owe them an apology (karma-wise) and a bigger tip come Christmas.
Now I’m overflowing with happiness, kinda like . . . oh I don’t know . . . a volcano?
A couple of months back I bought this breathtaking original from Alex Noriega who lives in Barcelona, Spain. After about four weeks of patiently waiting I finally received the peach-colored slip on my door from the postman saying I needed to “sign this slip” before s/he could deliver the package.
I signed the slip. The slip was taken. I waited a week longer. The package never arrived.
I went to the main post office in Palo Alto to inquire about the package — guess what the first question they asked was? “Do you have the peach-colored slip?”. #@%&* is all my mind could muster thinking about the bureaucratic pile of steaming excrement I was about to plow through face-#@%&*ing-first.
I know what you’re saying, talk to the mail carrier! Unfortunately, Mayberry is a myth, there are no more single-route mailmen. Our neighborhood carriers change and morph more than horny bacteria in putrid algae. I suggested to the supervisor we speak to said carrier but I got the ‘ole “We have over 200 carriers here, sir, who look at over blah blah letters and blah packages a day . . . ”
Anyway, it’s lost (probably forever) if you see it, it’s mine. I feel like I’ve been punched in the gut, it’s not about the money I spent, I really like this piece and wanted it in my Son’s room! If you could please spread the word — especially Bay Area bloggers — I’d appreciate any help. Reward.
thanks.

[...] My luck has swings wide I tell you. If you’ve been reading these posts lately you’ll notice a bipolar trend: A customer ripped me a new one (but we’ve just celebrated one year in business!). Someone stole an original from me (but we were mentioned in a national magazine!), and most recently My computer died (but I just got this e-mail . . . Hi Tony, [...]
