What?!
Way off topic here, but I have to vent.
In Cold Blood. Probably my favorite non-fiction book ever, and arguably it’s the best piece of non-fiction writing of the 20th century. When “Capote” the movie came out I was intrigued and saw it, it was okay (bordering on pretty good). Phillip Seymour Hoffman was terrific, of course, but it was Clifton Collins Jr. who really did a bang up job as Perry Smith - played only once before by the infamous Robert Blake in 1967. Collins became the Perry Smith I imagined when reading the book.
Speaking of Infamous, a new movie in the same vein as Capote is coming out soon and I’m already sold on Toby Jones as Capote, just watch the trailer, he absolutely nails it.
Here’s my complaint, why was Daniel Craig cast as Perry Smith?! I have nothing against Daniel Craig personally, but he’s not Perry Smith, not even close, not with make-up, not with dyed black hair, not with a Southern accent. I thought he was playing Dick Hickcock when I first watched the trailer! What in the wide, wide world of sports is wrong you studio people! Do you guys even read the books you make movies of?!
sigh
P.S. If you studio heads are reading this I have a suggestion for two movie remakes that I want to see now that the technology is available: Watership Down and Animal Farm. Please note they are not laff-riot comedies.
And now back to your regularly scheduled blog about prints!
