A welcome e-mail

Hi Tony, Apologies in advance for the intrusion. I frequent the iMundo site and ran across your response to the Orphan Works info… … I must say, man: well stated, clean / no-BS presented and a bit of an eye opener. You make some damn good points. I fall squarely into the “old guard” you mention… technically because of time-in-grade but certainly not philosophically. I’ve been a freelance illustrator for 31 years… full-time since 1986. Unlike most on iMundo, the majority of which are editorial-based [ god love 'em... the fees have always been low for editorial work... can't imagine in today's world ]… my work is virtually all advertising-based, strong to the technical side. After reading your response I visited the Creative Commons site, read what they’re all about and have already posted the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs license notice on my copyright page. Bottom line: a quick word of sincere thanks for shedding valuable perspective to the copyright / intellectual rights debate. Be well. . Peter Beach ;-)

Thanks Peter, I’m glad you took the time to really read-up on Creative Commons which is less of an organization and more of a very simple and realistic practice that works, is working, and will continue to work.

Postscript Q: “Hey Tony! if you’re so into Creative Commons why isn’t the work on Thumbtack Press under a cc license?!” - A: Because it’s not my work.

Whoops! Almost forgot!

Via Peter Beach Peter Beach is an amazing illustrator - hire him, and give him lots of money please, thanks. (this image is under a creative commons license.) see how easy that is?

Haha. Would a decent magazine or big budget campaign really try use a 72dpi jpg image (or pixelated scan of a printed image) in their brochures or magazines..? i mean, that’s ridiculous. Oh gosh, and people can commission good illustrations for 200$ and less even.
