I choo-choo choose you, and there’s a train!
9/22/05: We have been getting submissions, submissions, and more submissions from Thumbtack Artist candidates, albeit we refuse about 99% of them — Why? Why do we reject so many artists and how do we go about selecting art that sells? We have a top secret (until now) fool-proof formula that we utilize:
Thumbtack Press Artist Submission Acceptence Critiera (TPASAC): I ask myself: “Would I personally hang this in my own house?” If yes, accepted!
That’s it. So I apologize for the many short rejection e-mails I’ve sent out lately, remember it’s all very subjective. Bonus points to anyone who gets the “choo-choo” reference.
UPDATED 3/5/06 (from our FAQs)
When will I know if my submission has been chosen for the website?
We’re not able to reply to all of the artists that submit (we get tons of submissions). If we feel you’re right for Thumbtack Press we let you know in a reasonable amount of time. If you don’t hear from us, well . . .

Hey! I submitted one piece of artwork last week but have not heard either way (rejected or what)…do you send an email regardless? Please let me know. Thanks (and the “choo choo choose me is what the valentine’s day card Lisa Simpson gave Ralph Wiggum read!)
Thanks!
