I guess you could call me a blog-person

I subscribe to many blogs, I have for years. My rss reader is packed with some excellent blogs, distraction blogs, more distraction blogs, and even downright dumb blogs that make me shout at my monitor. I wrote for a good one for years.

Sometimes I’m in awe their power and other times I smirk at their silly indignation, but most of all I feel that they are truly what the web was created for (*see update below). In fact, I believe the stupid sounding name - blogs, c’mon! - helped to conceal their power to the media and Madison Avenue early on. Think about it, the heads of the major networks would have jumped a bit sooner if they had a more “sophisticated” sounding moniker - like News for the People, by the People or NFTPBTP for short (which, incidently, is exactly the sound of a raspberry performed by Opus), or RantMaker™, or “Amazing New Revenue Stream For Advertising To Todays’ Youth Market That Costs Us Absolutely Nothing Bwaaahaaha!!”, something like that . . . Rupert gets it.

But I have huuuuuge a pet peeve with some bloggers. . . Please, please, please do not post any of the following: “I won’t be blogging for a while . . .”, “No posts today”, “Away”, etc., etc.

No. One. Cares.

*UPDATE: Two days after I posted this entry it seems that another person agrees with me whole-heartedly, Sir Tim Berners-Lee
